Dry hair routine

Dry hair is a persistent hair problem that many people face. You have dry hair? You are looking for a dry hair routine with natural products to solve it? Discover our advice.

How to recognize dry hair?

Dry and damaged hair is characterized by its dull and rough appearance. The ends are very often split, the hair is brittle and difficult to disentangle without causing damage. The touch is not pleasant, because it feels like touching straw...

This fragility of dry hair is explained by the lack of hair nutrition. The aim of a dry hair routine will therefore be to compensate this lack of nutrition.

Hair that lack nutrition

Let's start by understanding how our hair works. Our hair is made up of 95% keratin, a protein found inside the hair but also on its outer layer, the cuticle. The role of the cuticle, composed of scales of keratins and lipids, has the role of protecting the hair against UV rays, sea water and external aggressions in general. It is these same scales that will retain hydration and maintain healthy hair.

A dry hair is a scalp that does not produce enough sebum, which brings the fat, the lipids necessary for the cuticle. When this is weakened, the scales rise and no longer fulfill their protective function, thus exposing the hair to external aggressions. To solve this, it is then necessary to provide them with nutrition, fatty substances, the essential hair element found a dry hair routine.

Reasons for a dry hair

Many reasons can cause the lack of nutrition of a dry hair.

One of the most common causes of dry hair is simply heredity. Indeed, if your family already has a tendency for dry hair, this could explain yours. This particularly concerns curly hair, which tends to be dry or very dry by nature.

Repeated exposure to heat also contributes to drying hair. Indeed, hair dryers and straighteners directly attack the hair cuticle, which is damaged. Exposure to the sun, sea salt or chlorine from the swimming pool also cause dry hair.

Finally, the way you treat your hair on a daily basis can also contribute to drying it out: use of unsuitable products, coloring too frequently, hairstyles that are too tight...

How to bring the necessary nutrition?

To reduce the effect of dry hair, it is necessary to act in depth for lastingly nourished hair, by adopting an appropriate dry hair routine.

To be deeply nourished, your dry hair needs ingredients rich in "fat" to provide the hair with all the nutrition it needs. For this, it is mainly preferable to choose plant butters and oils. Avoid chemical products and ingredients that have an instantaneous and aesthetic effect, without real benefits in the long term. Active ingredients of natural origin are to be preferred, because plants, naturally full of benefits, will deeply treat the hair, on the long term, and bring real nutrition to your dry hair.

Here are some top natural active ingredients to bring nutrition to your dry hair routine:

-        Argan oil, considered one of the best hair care products for dry hair, has superb nourishing properties for the hair

-        Sweet almond oil, with its greasier texture, brings many fatty elements to strengthen the cuticule and nourish the hair

-        Avocado oil is rich in proteins and vitamins to support the natural protective barrier of the hair

-        Macadamia oil contains fatty acids that will nourish and strengthen the hair

-        Shea and cocoa butters also have powderful hydra-nutritive properties to nourish the hair correctly!

At Rodolphe&Co, these natural active ingredients are certified organic when possible in order to guarantee optimal quality of the active ingredients of the plants. Only a certified organic plant can be guaranteed free of pesticides.

Which natural routine for dry hair?

Start your dry hair routine with the Moisturizing Shampoo. Its softening and nutritious active ingredients will gently wash your dry hair, while providing it with the nutrition it needs. Make a first application of this shampoo, rinse, then apply it a second time in order to improve the penetration of the nourishing active ingredients of the shampoo. Use this shampoo once or twice a week maximum: too regular shampoos will alter the secretion of sebum and contribute to drying your hair out.

After rinsing out the shampoo, continue your hair routine with the Hydrating Hair Mask. In addition to being moisturizing, the mask contains nourishing active ingredients such as shea butter or argan oil to deeply nourish the hair. Leave it on for 5 to 10 minutes, before rinsing thoroughly with cold water to close the hair cuticles.

Finish your dry hair routine with the Botanic Oil, a unique complex of 5 ultra-nourishing precious oils, to seal hair scales. Its non-greasy finish gives the hair an ultra soft touch and a shiny appearance.

You can also use the Botanic Oil as an oil bath, once a month or when necessary, to reinforce the nourishing action of your dry hair routine. The advantage of this deep treatment is that your hair will have the opportunity to absorb all the nourishing benefits of this oil, without fear of absorbing negative effects due to the 100% naturalness of this oil. The oil bath is to be done before the shampoo.

Daily tips

In addition to adopting a dry hair routine, to maintain healthy hair on a daily basis, it is important to adopt protective actions so as not to further damage the hair. Since the sun particularly attacks dry hair (and hair in general for that matter), remember to protect it, with a hat for example. Good tip: Rodolphe&Co Botanical Oil also provides a Uv protection for the hair!

As part of your dry hair routine, use a brush with large natural bristles. To brush or detangle your hair gently, start brushing at the ends, working your way up gradually to the roots, so as not to cause unnecessary breakage.

To maintain your hair, sleeping on a satin pillow is also recommended. The softness of the satin will limit the friction of the hair, and therefore the breakage.
